The inimitable CRTranscript editor pearwaldorf has created a text description of the Critical Role/D&D Beyond cartoon advert. Enjoy!
Background: A field of stars that morphs into the D&D ampersand, surrounded by symbols representing each player class.
(drum loop)
It morphs into the warlock symbol, then into our PC in costume. She is a young girl (in her early/mid-teens), with brown skin, pointed ears, and dark natural hair pulled into a bun. She holds a staff with a green crystal at the top. She is dressed in a purple sleeveless cloth robe, with a triangular collar/yoke in lighter purple. Her bracers and belt are a dark purple, as are her pants.
(You got the perfect warlock)
Her adventuring gear materializes from thin air and she attempts to catch it all before falling down on the ground.
(Her weapons and supplies)
[The house looks very similar to the one in the retro intro. There is a CR retro poster on the wall.]
The image morphs into the PC (now with human ears) sitting at a coffee table, frowning as she looks at some character sheets in her hand. On the table, more character sheets and core rulebooks are scattered around. She picks up a tablet.
(But you need a place to track your stuff
‘cause you’re so disorganized)
POV switches to PC looking at the tablet. The CR cast and Matt, dressed like in the retro intro, are crowded into the frame. Sam is in front and holds a tablet with the D&D Beyond logo.
(You click open a web page)
PC presses on the logo and gets zapped into the tablet. The Mighty Nein (from front to back, clockwise: Nott, Beauregard, Mollymauk, Caleb, Jester, Yasha, Fjord) look up to see her. Jester waves hello from the back, Nott looks surprised and runs behind Fjord. Fjord extends a hand out to the PC and she grabs it.
(You heard about a Critical Role)
POV switches to Fjord’s perspective, PC grasping his hand and getting pulled up. Her clothes change to a leather breastplate and a long-sleeved shirt. Her bracers are now light blue, and she has a different belt. She and Fjord look at each other and nod before turning to face a long tunnel in a cave. Zoom down the tunnel to see two gnolls running down it, attacking. PC and the Mighty Nein start running, ready to fight.
(And now you’re ready to kick some butt
in a mine shaft full of gnolls)
Caleb sends a Fire Bolt(?) from behind as PC runs towards the gnolls and unleashes an Eldritch Blast.
(it’s D&D! (D&D))
Yasha, raging, snarls and throws a gnoll down the tunnel.
Yeah! D&D Beyond!
Mollymauk jumps from above, under the influence of Blood Maledict, and cleaves outward with his two swords.
Yeah D&D! (D&D)
Nott runs up to a gnoll and stabs it with her dagger. An arrow flies towards Caleb, but he doesn’t pay attention to it, instead sending out a spell (Magic Missile?) that hits both of the gnolls.
(Yeah! D&D Beyond!)
Beauregard grabs the arrow from mid-air and throws it back at a gnoll.
(You got your staffs)
Jester brandishes her Spiritual Weapon lollipop and touches Fjord, healing him. Fjord materializes his falchion, water dripping off it.
(You got your swords)
Camera pans around to PC, Fjord, and Jester, backs to each other in a defensive stance. PC holds a spell (Hex?) in one hand, wand in another. Something disrupts the spell and she turns to see a beholder.
(And you got your invisible wand!)
The beholder summons lightning and opens its mouth menacingly, bearing down on PC.
It’s D&D (D&D)
Cut to Saturday morning cartoon style character zoom montage of the Mighty Nein. A hooded and robed Matt Mercer as the DM looms in the background, his arms spread wide. Alternating from left to right: Nott crouched on the ground, her hand in front of her, Yasha standing with her sword resting on her shoulder, Caleb with Dancing Lights up, Frumpkin (a striped orange and black tabby) behind him, Mollymauk with his swords drawn, Jester and her duplicate, Fjord with his falchion, Beauregard with her staff. PC stands behind them, her wand sending a green flare of energy into the sky.
(D&D (D&D))
It animates the D&D Beyond logo on a dark background, then changes to a white one.
(D&D Beyond!)
